ProExam Vault

2014-2015

ProExam is a not-for-profit organisation providing assessment and advisory services to organisations and institutions issuing credentials across a wide range of industries and occupations. ProExam was interested in extending their platform to offer digital badging services to their clients and credential recipients.

ProExam Vault was designed to make it simple for credential issuers (such as professional associations or educational institutions), earners (such as job candidates), and employers to manage and verify credentials that are issued and distributed digitally.

From the beginning, ProExam Vault was designed to conform to the Open Badge standard, developed by Mozilla. Open Badges are verifiable, portable digital badges with embedded metadata about skills and achievements. They comply with the Open Badges Specification and are shareable across the web.

The initial platform could be divided into two products: a SaaS platform for issuing organisations, and a place for individual credential earners to store and share their badges. Both aspects of the platform worked seamlessly together but due to the nature of Open Badges, could be used independently of one another.

Issuers

Issuing organisations could use the product to manage the types of badges that could be issued, to issue and revoke badges, to manage promotional content shown on the public organisation and badge pages, and view badge claim and sharing stats.

The entire product was structured to support a white labelled option for customers who wished to sign up and manage their own issuing organisations.

Earners

Credential earners could use ProExam Vault to store and share their badges, customise their profile and choose to make it public or private.

As most earners would be creating their ProExam Vault account when receiving their first badge we wanted to make the process as quick and simple as possible.

As the product would have a varied user base, care was taken to ensure the design and implementation was clear, compatible, and accessible.
